The franchisor provides assistance with site selection and lease negotiation, including the provision of site selection criteria and a sample lease. They also offer a set of standard architectural plans and specifications for the model, which the franchisee must adapt to their specific location. Additionally, the franchisor assists in the development of a 12-month grand opening marketing plan.
The primary training program is a comprehensive 5- to 7-week course for the franchisee and up to two managers, covering the Wings and Rings system, food preparation and business management. This training is held at a certified training restaurant or the franchisor’s headquarters and must be completed at least two weeks before the restaurant opens.
Ongoing operational support includes the provision of a confidential operations manual that details recipes, safety standards and daily management procedures. The franchisor’s representatives may make periodic visits to the restaurant to conduct evaluations, offer consultations on business operations and ensure compliance with brand standards. They also coordinate the national advertising fund and provide access to negotiated volume discounts from approved suppliers for food, beverages and supplies. Wings and Rings also provides a minimum of seven days of on-site assistance during the week the restaurant opens to ensure operational readiness.
Franchisees are required to use a specific Point of Sale (POS) system, which tracks sales, labor and inventory data. The franchisor also mandates the use of a proprietary back-office software suite for financial reporting and operational analysis. Additionally, the franchisor provides a POS management service for a monthly fee to handle menu programming and system maintenance.
Wings and Rings looks for franchisees with relevant business experience (with franchising experience as a plus) who are passionate about the model, take a collaborative approach to running the business and show a commitment to continuous learning.
Franchisees are required to maintain direct, on-premises supervision of the restaurant through trained management and must operate the business in strict accordance with the brand's proprietary standards, including mandated operating hours and the sale of only approved menu items. Franchisees must also source specific ingredients and supplies from authorized vendors, maintaining all necessary insurance and liquor licenses and fulfilling local marketing spend requirements. Additionally, owners must utilize the brand's designated technology suite for inventory and labor tracking while granting the franchisor remote access to all POS data for performance monitoring and royalty verification.
Wings and Rings does not provide financing for the initial franchise fee or any other part of the initial investment, nor does the franchisor guarantee a franchisee’s note, lease or any obligations to third parties.
While not a loan, the franchisor does offer a program that can reduce the initial franchise fee to $0 and provide a royalty holiday for franchisees who meet specific qualification and timing criteria.
The franchisor holds a $10,000 grand opening payment in escrow and will reimburse the franchisee for pre-approved marketing expenses up to that amount.
Sports restaurants and sports bars like Wings and Rings are benefiting from steady demand for food-and-game gathering spots. U.S. restaurant and foodservice sales are projected to reach $1.55 trillion in 2026, and the global pubs, bars and nightclubs market is projected to grow by $34.5 billion from 2024 to 2029 (a 5.1% CAGR). For a wings-led brand, that backdrop matters because wings and shareables are built for group occasions, and a full bar can lift the average check on the busiest nights, especially around major sports weekends.
Wings and Rings stands out in the club-level sports restaurant and bar space by focusing on quality, ordering convenience and a diverse menu. Focusing on guests in a fun franchised setting helps set the chain apart.
In terms of competition, Wings and Rings faces several notable players, including Buffalo Wild Wings, Hooters, Boston’s Pizza Restaurant & Sports Bar, Twin Peaks and Pluckers. However, Wings and Rings sets itself apart with its club-level sports restaurant and bar positioning that combines chef-inspired wings and an elevated menu with a welcoming, family-friendly atmosphere and a strong focus on the overall game-day experience.
