The energy generated from this contract with Ares Management and Apex Clean Energy won’t actually be specifically routed to any McDonald’s stores or offices (sorry!), but is instead an attempt to offset the emissions generated by its stores.

To date, McDonald’s has now added more renewable energy to the grid than any other restaurant company in the U.S., and the energy generated will be the equivalent to 1,300 McDonald’s restaurants. Analysts have yet to release a statistic about exactly how many McNuggets that would equate to.

This U.S. wind project represents a significant step in our work to address climate change, building on years of renewable energy sourcing in many of our European markets.”
