March marks more than just the beginning of spring for Jersey Mike’s; it also represents the submarine sandwich franchise’s fifth annual March Month of Giving initiative. Last year’s Month of GIving fundraising campaign raised $2.1 million for over 100 charities across the country, and Jersey Mike’s is hoping to surpass this number in 2015.

“I would like to extend a personal invitation to come in and enjoy a Jersey Mike’s sub during our Month of Giving,” said Peter Cancro, founder and CEO of the company.

Customers are encouraged to donate to designated charities at their local Jersey Mike’s locations throughout the month, while the various company chains gear up to donate 100 percent of all sales on Wednesday, March 25 to their partner charities.

“This year we hope to raise more than $2.5 million to support these local causes so we can bring hope to all those involved with the charities and make a difference in people’s lives,” Cancro continued.

The brand's dedication to giving back has not slowed down its growth. In addition to raising over $5 million for various charities to date, Jersey Mike’s has also more than doubled in size over the past three years, including opening 155 new locations during 2014 alone.

While Jersey Mike’s altruistic efforts are its own reward, it’s important not to discount the bonus benefits of franchises giving back to their local communities. 1851 has previously highlighted how giving back can help a brand.

Studies have shown that a majority of consumers feel better about a brand if they know it supports a cause they care about.

By designating March as a Month of Giving, Jersey Mike’s is lending a helping hand to those in need while also giving customers a reason to feel better about biting into their next sub.
