AdAge: Pepsi Is Pulling Its Widely Mocked Kendall Jenner Ad

New Pepsi ad created in-house draws criticism and forces the brand to pull the ad.

After the ad drew more criticism than most in recent history, Pepsi decided to pull its new Kendall Jenner commercial. According to a recent AdAge article, the ad was planned to run globally on TV and digitally before it drew numerous complaints that it had glamorized protest movements such as Black Lives Matter for commercial gain.

"Pepsi was trying to project a global message of unity, peace and understanding. Clearly we missed the mark, and we apologize," the brand said in a statement. "We did not intend to make light of any serious issue. We are removing the content and halting any further rollout. We also apologize for putting Kendall Jenner in this position.

Many users on social media disagreed with the Pepsi statements yesterday. In fact, 77 percent of digital content engagement that mentioned “tone-deaf” was referring to Pepsi and Kendall Jenner.
