Adweek: Amazon, GM and Volvo Are Now Offering In-Car Delivery in the U.S.

The new in-car delivery services comes after Amazon introduced its Key Home Kit.

Amazon is finding another way to deliver products to Prime members. If the service’s two-day shipping option isn’t convenient enough, Adweek notes that Amazon will now deliver packages directly to Prime members’ cars.

This isn’t the first time that Amazon has introduced an unconventional shipping method. The brand first made headlines when it introduced its Key Home Kit that enabled in-home delivery. Instead, Prime members who download the Amazon Key app will be able to link their Amazon accounts with select car service accounts. When customers place an order, they can then select in-car delivery when checking out to have packages placed right into their trunks.

Amazon said, “Each time a delivery driver requests access to a customer’s vehicle, Amazon verifies that an authorized driver is at the right location with the right package through an encrypted authentication process. Once this process is successfully completed, the car is then unlocked. Customers receive a notification via the Amazon Key App after the delivery is completed and the vehicle is relocked.”

Amazon’s in-car delivery is available in 37 U.S. cities. It’s only compatible with some vehicles from Chevrolet, Buick, GMC, Cadillac and Volvo.
