Amazon Delivery Fleet Operator To Open Scoop Soldiers Franchise in Tucson, Arizona

The entrepreneur is partnering with his wife and friend to launch two pet waste removal territories in the Tucson area in early October.

Christian Spangler, a Tucson resident and longtime entrepreneur, has always started his businesses from the ground up. At a young age, he launched a feed business that distributed products statewide. He later grew into long-haul trucking with 15 semis, then shifted to become an Amazon delivery partner. Today, he runs a business that oversees between 40 and 50 Amazon delivery vans throughout the Tucson community.

When his wife, Denise, and her friend, Marian, began discussing other business opportunities, the trio came across Scoop Soldiers, the pet waste removal franchise with 40-plus units and counting. Because all three love animals and saw the strength of a service-based business, they decided to invest. Now, they’re set to launch operations in two Tucson territories in early October.

1851 Franchise: Frame your personal story for us. What did you do before franchising, and how did you decide franchising made sense for you?

Spangler: I was in the logistics business forever. I started out with a few stores, delivering feed all across the state. Then I got into trucking. I started out with one big rig and ended up with 15 semis. I sold all of that and now have an Amazon delivery partnership business. I have 40 to 50 vans that go all around Tucson delivering Amazon packages.

We’ve been doing that for 4 years now. I have a great team there, so I have a little bit more time. My wife, Denise, and her best friend, Marian, said that we should do something together. We looked at a couple different franchise options but knew we needed something in the services space. Services will always be around. We all love animals and dogs, and we wanted to do a service that was beneficial to everyone but that also could withstand an economic crisis. Something that would still be a service that people want. That’s how we decided on Scoop Soldiers.

1851: What was your perception of franchising prior to becoming a franchisee, and what do you want people to know about franchising now that you are in it?

Spangler: I knew a little bit. We got pretty deep into some of them. We drove to Texas to look at a business opportunity. But the challenge is that a lot of the franchises aren’t very transparent. When we started to speak to Scoop Soldiers, they were so transparent. They wanted us to talk to other franchisees, and everything was good and positive with them.

Being able to see everything — the good and the bad — makes the decision a little bit easier.

1851: What made you pick this brand? What excites you most about this company?

Spangler: Scoop Soldiers was just so transparent and nice to deal with. We had the opportunity to invest in two territories, and we knew that would help. I think we are set up for long-term success.

Also, the people at Scoop Soldiers are just awesome. They’re here to answer questions right away; their communication line is wide open.

1851: What do you hope to achieve with your business? What are your plans for growth?

Spangler: I think this is a good business. I want to make people aware that it’s actually out there and available. I want to make it so everybody knows about Scoop Soldiers, and we’re the top option in Tucson. I’d love to pretty much own the city and have around 15 trucks rolling around a year from now.

1851: What is the one thing about your story you want us to know?

Spangler: Every business I’ve started, I’ve started from nothing. I’ve learned that each industry is different. You might have a different clientele, but it’s all about how you present yourself to the public and how you do the job.

1851: What advice do you have for other people thinking about becoming a franchise owner?

Spangler: No matter what you do, whether it’s a franchise or any type of contract, have a lawyer read every document that’s going to affect you and your family. Make sure it’s not a one-way street and just double check everything.

The total initial investment to begin the operation of a Scoop Soldiers franchise is $68,300-$118,300. To find out more information on costs to buy this franchise, please visit https://1851franchise.com/scoopsoldiers/info .
