Another Restaurant Is Getting Slammed With a Lawsuit for Being Inaccessible to Persons With Disabilities

Here we go again…

In today’s restaurant scandal spotlight, Hooters is in the hot seat for not accommodating customers with disabilities. According to TMZ, Marcos Calcano is suing the sports bar chain on behalf of himself and others who are visually impaired due to the lack of braille gift cards.

You would think it’d be an easy fix to add braille to gift cards, but it definitely slipped the minds of those working at Hooters. According to the legal documents, Hooters responded to Calcano (who was apparently “clamoring” to buy a Hooters gift card according to the article and still plans to) explaining that the brand doesn’t sell gift cards with braille and doesn’t plan to in the future.

If Hooters were smart and wanted to attract new customers, they’d expand their services so all customers can enjoy themselves at the sports bar...right?

This isn’t the first time a restaurant has been hit with a lawsuit for lacking specific services aimed at customers with disabilities––The Supreme Court recently rejected an appeal from Domino’s to hear a case that deemed the Domino’s website and mobile app inaccessible under the guidelines of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)

It’s about time justice is served.
