It’s time to go green. According to new research from the National Restaurant Association, more than one-quarter of Americans plan to visit a restaurant or bar this St. Patrick’s Day. And, there’s no better way to celebrate St. Paddy’s (not Patty’s, people) than green-tinted, seasonal treats. Here are five ways to celebrate the man of the hour: St. Patrick. Ritter’s Frozen Custard Ritter’s claims that it is, in fact, easy being green. The family-favorite custard franchise is rolling out sweet treats such as Mint Oreos Glaciers and Shakes, Mint Chocolate Chip Smoothie and Mint Chocolate Chip Pie to celebrate the upcoming holiday. Sweet Arleen’s The boutique-style bakery that specializes in cupcakes and bread pudding is getting into the St. Patrick’s Day spirit. Sticking with the green theme, the kitchen at Sweet Arleen’s is baking delicious Mint N’ Chip Cupcakes — classic vanilla cupcakes dotted and baked with minty chocolate cookie crumbles and iced mint ganache. Of course, it wouldn’t be complete without a little booze, so the decadent cupcake is topped off with light crème de menthe buttercream. NY Bagel Café & Deli Don’t worry, even breakfast foods are joining in the festivities. This year, NY Bagel Café & Deli is offering customers green bagels. Pair it with scallion cream cheese for an ultimate St. Patrick’s Day breakfast. Thirsty? They’re also adding Irish Cream, a new limited-time coffee flavor, to the menu — the best Monday-morning recovery aid after Timothy O’Toole’s weekend bash. Arby’s Nothing says Irish like corned beef. Top it with melted Swiss cheese, sauerkraut and Thousand Island dressing and you’ve got yourself a Reuben. Arby’s Reuben drops on March 15 and is available through St. Patrick’s Day. And just in case one isn’t enough, locations are launching a BOGO special, so bring a friend to celebrate. bd’s Mongolian Grill The interactive dining franchise is offering customers the chance to purchase “The Irish Tickler,” the 25-ounce mug part of their collectible Mug-Stache series. Take a picture and post it to Facebook using #bdmugstache to show your friends you’re celebrating properly. McDonald’s Obviously this list wouldn’t be complete with the magic that is the Shamrock Shake. Drink it with a straw. Eat it with a spoon. Order a second and take that victory lap. Any which way, it’s magically delicious and only available for a limited time. Shamrock Shake — never leave us.
