MOOYAH President Tony Darden speaks on the “better burger” brand’s plans to add locations in Florida.

In a recent article by Business Observer, MOOYAH Burgers, Fries & Shakes President Tony Darden discussed the brand’s plans to add up to 30 locations to the state of Florida. The Plano, Texas-based “better burger” concept has nearly 90 restaurants across the country with three in Orlando and one in Miami. Darden told Business Observer he believes that the brand can reach 10 to 15 locations in the Tampa, Sarasota-Bradenton and Southwest Florida area.
Darden said his company plans the expansion despite the pandemic, as it stepped up safety protocols with a newly remodeled store that includes a closed kitchen and spaced-out dining zones.
“We are leveraging what the pandemic has taught us,” Darden told Business Observer, “which is you have to be nimble and you have to come to where the customers are.”
Darden explained they are typically seeking suburban and light urban markets with growing annual wages that have about 100,000 people within three miles of the location. The average investment for a new franchise is $403,750–$639,100.
