With few competitors and a large senior population, he saw an opportunity to both build a meaningful business and offer a service that truly matters.1851 spoke with Mohamed to learn more about his background, what drew him to the&nbsp;<a href="https://1851franchise.com/caringtransitions/info">Caring Transitions</a> brand and his plans for the future.&nbsp;1851 Franchise: Frame your personal story for us. What do you want us to know?Abraham Mohamed: I worked as a CNA for a number of years, and then I worked at a company that helped people with regional disabilities. I’ve always wanted to help people, and I’ve always wanted to own my own business — that’s a big reason why I made this move. It wasn’t just for financial reasons, though that’s part of it. I had never been a business owner before, so I started looking into franchising. Franchising can guide you and support you in how to run a business.We had an unbelievable coaching team at Caring Transitions. I wanted that support from people who had been through it before.1851: What was your perception of franchising prior to becoming a franchisee, and what do you want people to know about franchising now that you are in it?Mohamed: I thought franchising would be a good way to get started as a business owner. What I’ve learned is that the support makes all the difference. You’re not doing it alone — you have people helping you every step of the way. That was a big draw for me.1851: What made you pick this brand? What excites you most about this company?Mohamed: There isn’t a lot of competition for these kinds of services here in La Crosse. The need is big — we have a large senior population, and when it comes to competitors, you don’t really see any big names. The numbers don’t lie — they haven’t lost any battles throughout the years. The team was very transparent and upfront from the beginning. They didn’t just want to sell something; they wanted to find the right people to represent the brand. The more meetings we had, the more interested and invested we became.1851: What do you hope to achieve with your business? What are your plans for growth?Mohamed: I’m definitely looking to grow — I want to get another territory in the future. But first, I want to build something strong here in La Crosse and really become a trusted part of the community.1851: Is there anything else about your story you want us to know?Mohamed: We helped our own parents move, and we really felt how emotional that time can be. It was tough for us, and it was tough for them too. That’s one of the big things that motivates me. We’ve felt that stress ourselves — even in the best circumstances, moving can be a challenge. We want to be here to help other families through it.1851: What advice do you have for other people thinking about becoming franchise owners?Mohamed: Never stop learning. As a new owner, you learn something new every day. Don’t worry if you’re struggling at the start — just keep learning and asking questions. That’s the most important thing any new business owner can do.
