Caring Transitions, the franchise that provides downsizing, right-sizing, estate sales and move management solutions, is closing out another ground-breaking year, marked by significant growth, technological advancements and more.
“Overall, 2023 has been a strong year — we are on target to hit every goal we set out to achieve as a company,” said Caring Transitions Brand President Ray Fabik. “In a year full of economic challenges, we have seen time and time again that we are a ‘needs business’, not a ‘wants business’. We are essential in the public eye. That is why we are headed towards another year of double-digit growth.”
The Caring Transitions franchise — which was ranked as No. 141 on Entrepreneur's prestigious Fastest Growing Franchises list, as well as No. 421 on Entrepreneur’s Franchise 500 ranking — continued to attract entrepreneurs across the country. The brand opened an impressive 50 new franchise locations this year alone, surpassing the coveted 300-unit mark in September with the opening of its Worcester, Massachusetts location.
“In terms of franchise growth, we continue to partner with passionate people from all walks of life who want to find a business that will not only make money, but will also make a difference in their community,” said Fabik. “That is a pretty great combination.”
Cesar Burgos, for example, is the franchisee behind the Worcester location. Born and raised in the area, Burgos’ local roots and extensive network promise a bright future for Caring Transitions. Burgos combines a decade of experience as a case manager serving senior citizens with nine years as a Realtor.
"Caring Transitions resonates deeply with me,” said Burgos. “Having worked extensively with senior citizens, I'm very familiar with their needs. And being a real estate broker adds another dimension to how I can assist them. This franchise comes naturally to me. I never realized how large the brand was when I began discussions, but understanding now that I am the 300th franchisee makes me even more confident about the decision. Caring Transitions' rapid growth is a testament to what they offer, setting up franchisees like me for success.”
Caring Transitions helps seniors relocate by spending time at their homes, helping them pack and organize their belongings, then moving those belongings to the new home and setting them up in a way that feels comfortable. Then, the team returns to the original location to arrange and host an in-person or online estate sale through its proprietary platform, CTBids. This year, the introduction of the CTBids mobile app has made it even easier for clients to bid on unique and everyday treasures, Fabik says.
“The auction market continues to grow for us this year — people are really interested in finding a great bargain right now,” said Fabik. “Plus, when shopping on CTBids, they know the money is going to a local small business owner and is supporting a family who is going through a transition. Our new mobile app has been a very exciting initiative this year and is going to make our CTBids platform even stronger.”
Another big initiative this year, Fabik says, was Caring Transitions’ partnership with Growing Bolder, the multi-platform media company and team of award-winning journalists, broadcasters and creatives focused on sharing the inspirational stories of men and women over the age of 50.
“We are two organizations that really share the same passion for seniors,” said Fabik. “Their whole theme is about growing bolder versus growing older, which is exactly our mission: How do we help seniors and their families transition through life’s stages? We are in the process of creating TV ads, podcasts, print ads — we will be reaching their audience, and we are very excited about the partnership.”
Now, as Caring Transitions moves into the new year, the focus remains on expanding its reach, enhancing its offerings and continuing to provide exceptional services to seniors and their families.
“The success we’ve seen this year is not just a testament to our business model, but also to the unwavering commitment and passion of our franchisees,” said Fabik. “They are the heart of our success, making a tangible difference in the lives of seniors and their families every day. Looking ahead, we are excited to continue our journey of making Caring Transitions available to anybody and everybody who needs us.”
