Why This Senior Care Expert Purchased a Caring Transitions Franchise

With a career that spans hospitality, real estate and senior care, Helsa Williams brings a wealth of experience and a heartfelt commitment to her new venture as a Caring Transitions franchisee.

Helsa Williams is the franchise owner behind Caring Transitions of Bainbridge Island & Port Orchard in Washington. Following time in the hospitality and hotel space, Williams’ transition into real estate was natural, yet it was her next move that truly set the stage for her future with Caring Transitions, the 330+ unit franchise that provides older adults and their families with the most trusted and comprehensive senior relocation, downsizing and estate sale solutions in the industry.

“I had the opportunity to join a very well-reputed retirement community north of Seattle,” she said “That is really what got me started working with seniors, and I found my stride with that.”

Over the years, Williams managed three different senior communities and became a licensed Realtor in three states. But after selling her business last year, she was not ready to retire.

“If I can do something worthwhile, I will,” Williams said. “I kept seeing Caring Transitions pop up when doing research for a new opportunity. So I dove in. I really loved the services they offered to families. We can help take their hands off the wheel by taking care of all this busy work. For families that are supporting a senior in transition, we help them enjoy their loved one rather than trudging through all the minutiae and details that take up so much time when time is not something they have a lot of. It means so much to them.”

Caring Transitions provides a unique and vital service, helping families manage the complex process of senior relocation, downsizing and estate sales. Unlike standard moving services, which offer minimal support during this time, Caring Transitions offers comprehensive assistance, working closely with families to facilitate a smooth transition and help seniors settle into their new homes with ease.

“The amalgam of my experiences was really a benefit,” Williams said. “Caring Transitions put together a really nice menu of services and I knew from experience that it speaks to a very large need of the aging population. It's really a one-stop shop. Managing three or four providers for one move is so exhausting.”

Williams purchased her Caring Transitions franchise in April, with plans to officially open her business in August.

“There is so much support for franchise owners,” said Williams. “The genuine care that they convey for each and every business owner is very refreshing and very unique. The buy-in is low and the returns are very high, and you have a wonderful franchise family behind you.”

But perhaps the biggest standout feature of Caring Transitions, according to Williams, is the heart-driven nature of the work.

“The one common denominator is that everyone is leading with their heart — this is something they really care about,” said Williams. “When you look at the owners and the reasons they get into the business, you can tell they care so much. This franchise stands out in the senior space because there is such a strong connection between franchise owners. When you have that, and there is a great business model behind you, there is going to be a lot of success.”

As Williams embarks on this new chapter, she is motivated by the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of seniors and their families all over the country.

“If adult children live in Texas, but mom is in Washington, we can support families wherever they are,” said Williams. “And now that we have over 330 franchises, there is so much visibility, and it really speaks to how efficient and well-thought-out the business model is. When you have a company with a 20-year track record of being a one-stop shop, it makes for a great franchise opportunity in the senior space.”
