Chick-fil-A Announces $100 Million U.K. Expansion with New Restaurants in 2025

Chick-fil-A is investing over $100 million to expand its presence in the U.K., aiming to open five restaurants in the first two years, with locations in Belfast, Leeds, Liverpool and London by early 2025. This is part of a broader $1 billion international push by 2025, targeting growth in Europe and Asia. Chick-fil-A, the third-largest U.S. fast food chain, currently operates over 3,000 locations across the U.S., Puerto Rico and Canada.

The U.K. expansion will create around 400 jobs, with each restaurant expected to hire 80 - 100 employees. The company’s owner-operator model, which requires a $10,000 investment from franchisees, focuses on local ownership, with franchisees actively involved in day-to-day operations and community engagement. Chick-fil-A aims to replicate its successful U.S. model, where strong community ties and local philanthropy are key.

The company’s community-centric approach will include a £25,000 donation to local charities with each restaurant opening. Additionally, Chick-fil-A will introduce its Shared Table program, which redirects surplus food to local charities and food banks, a program that helped create over 7 million meals in the U.S. and Canada last year. Products, including chicken and free-range eggs, will be locally sourced in the U.K.

This expansion follows Chick-fil-A’s steady growth in the U.S., where it generated $21.59 billion in systemwide sales in 2023, despite having fewer locations than its competitors. The chain's international efforts have been cautious, with earlier attempts in South Africa and the U.K. falling short. However, executives are optimistic about their future in Europe, given the U.K.'s stable economy and demand for chicken concepts.
