Chick-Fil-A’s Latest Marketing Message Is Nothing Short of Ironic

Can I get an L-O-L?!

We all love a good “National (insert food name) Day,” because that usually means restaurants that carry said food will have a special promotion going to celebrate. And, good news for sandwich lovers, National Sandwich Day is November 3

To celebrate National Sandwich Day, Chick-Fil-A sent out an email to its subscribers promoting its chicken sandwich special. However, the chicken giant did NOT check the calendar before it sent out the email, as National Sandwich Day lands on a Sunday this year.

Oy vey, Chick-Fil-A!

The brand has, rather infamously, “kept the Sabbath,” as it were, with all locations staying closed on Sundays as a point of policy. Passing up National Sandwich Day does seem like willingly passing up a major revenue opportunity, but what does this writer know about the chicken business

According to Business Insider (BI), the brand quickly sent out another email that apologized to customers for the mistake. “We recently sent an email that included a message about National Sandwich Day, which naturally we were very excited about,” the email said, according to BI. “We didn’t realize it falls on Sunday, when we are closed. We apologize for the confusion and hope to see you soon (Monday-Saturday).”

A Chick-Fil-A representative told BI: “The cows sometimes get over-eager on their quest for self-preservation. They have been reminded that Sundays are off limits.”

Popeyes is probably quite pleased with how this panned out.
