Chick-fil-A Unveils Revolutionary Elevated Drive-Thru Concept in Atlanta

The new prototype features a suspended kitchen and conveyor belt system to boost drive-thru efficiency, serving up to 2,400 meals per hour.

Chick-fil-A is launching its long-awaited drive-thru prototype in the Atlanta metro area, according to a recent press release

This new unit features a futuristic kitchen suspended above four drive-thru lanes, including dedicated lanes for mobile orders. The kitchen uses a conveyor belt system to deliver meals directly to the drive-thru lanes, with the capacity to serve significantly more cars than a traditional Chick-fil-A restaurant — potentially up to 2,400 meals per hour.

This design is part of Chick-fil-A’s broader strategy to integrate technological advancements with its hospitality-focused brand identity. The company aims to maintain its high unit volumes, with approximately 60% of orders typically processed through drive-thrus.

According to the press release, the franchisee will employ around 150 full and part-time workers at the location, while a typical Chick-fil-A location employs 80-120 workers.

Chick-fil-A has been steadily increasing the availability of mobile pickup lanes throughout its network. Last year, the chain introduced this technology to over 300 locations. Additionally, it has implemented geofencing technology to minimize wait times.
