More money more problems? Not for the hardworking employees at Chipotle!
Chipotle is not willing to let good burrito-bowl-making behavior go unnoticed or unrewarded. The Mexican grill is on a mission to stay relevant and gain new employees through its new cash bonus incentive program, according to Nation’s Restaurant News.
Employees working at one of the 135 participating locations will qualify for Chipotle’s new quarterly cash incentive program. In exchange for helping the fast casual chain meet sales goals, employees will be rewarded with an extra week’s worth of pay. According to NRN, Chipotle has paid a whopping amount of $700,000 to more than 2,600 hourly workers.
“The all-crew bonus reinforced the sense of pride and passion for what we do and how we do it,” Chipotle general manager Angel Zuniga said in the article. “From mashing avocados to servicing the line, everyone is focused on working together to provide the best possible guest experience.”
This incentive was brought about in Chipotle’s strategy to improve turnover. According to the restaurant’s Sustainability Report, Chipotle’s annual turnover rate in 2018 was 144.9%, which is a 15.8% decrease from 2017. So, the quick service chain hopes this incentive will further improve its numbers and result in a even less turnover in 2019.
If this new cash bonus incentive doesn’t rake in more diligent and kickass employees for Chipotle, then who knows what will?!
