The company has been aiming to rid its menu of all artificial flavors, sweeteners, preservatives and colors.

&quot;We can now say to the world that you can walk into a Panera and you can feel a positive sense that you know with absolutely certainty that there are no artificial flavors, preservatives, sweeteners, colors from artificial sources on our menu,&quot;&nbsp;Ron Shaich, Panera Bread&#39;s founder and CEO, told CNBC.

Deli meat was one of the challenges the brand had to face&mdash;a product known for including preservatives and phosphates. In order to naturally preserve Panera&rsquo;a turkey deli meat now, the company uses water, sea salt and potato starch.
