CNBC: Paid Media Spend on Social Up By 65 Percent, Instagram Leads Growth: Report

Paid social media spend is on the rise with Facebook–owned Instagram leading the pack.

A new report from media technology company 4C shows that brands spent 65 percent more in 2016 compared to 2015 for advertising on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram and Pinterest. Of all of the social networks, marketers spent the most money on Instagram this past year according to a recent CNBC article.

The “State of Social Advertising” study also reported the increase in the amount spent on paid-for posts on Instagram was 138 percent. The industries with the highest increase in spend on Instagram were home and garden and service sectors during the third and fourth quarters of last year.

Coming in second and third respectively for highest spend in 2016 was LinkedIn with a 130 percent increase and Pinterest with 109 percent growth.
