Community Impact Newspaper: Texas Ranked #1 as State With Worst Drivers

Houston-based SafeWay Driving talks safe driving tips after Texas was named the state with the worst drivers

According to a study released by CarInsuranceComparison.com, Texas was ranked #1 as the state with the worst drivers. Todd Peters, owner of SafeWay Driving in Spring and Klein, told the Community Impact reporter that roads in developing areas like FM 2920 are particularly hazardous for new drivers.

"We're seeing a lot of parent-taught students," Peters told the reporter. "They're going to emulate what the parents are doing, and they're talking on the phone and texting."

SafeWay Driving vice president Ann Littmann mentioned how careless and distracted drivers has joined drunken driving as a major hazard.

"It's not just abut drunk drivers being out on the" roadways, but it's careless driving," Littmann told the reporter. "People engage in reckless behavior or to try to pass time in traffic by being on their phones."
