By RYAN O'DONNELL While it is easy to feel as if there are not enough hours in a day, successful individuals understand the importance of a productive day.   Here are some simple tips you can implement to take advantage of the hours you do have and make 2013 your most productive year yet. 1) Prioritize Your Tasks Take a look at everything you need to accomplish and prioritize them based on importance and return on investment.   That is the easy part.  Next find a method that works best for you in helping you accomplish your tasks of high importance.  Experiment with lists, schedules, and calendars. 2) Get Things Done…Now! For smaller tasks or inquiries that can be taken care of in mere minutes or less, take care of them immediately.   Do not begin larger tasks this way, as this will only help for smaller things. 3) Ask For Help! If you encounter a roadblock, or something is not going as well as planned, ask for help!  Not only will it help you accomplish what needs to be done, you will be able to learn from someone who has more experience or a different set of skills than yourself.  This will also help you in the long run. 4) Keep Your Work Space Clean and Clutter-Free The more things that are in your work space that you do not need or do not need in the near future, the less productive you will be.   Have the essentials on hand.  If you are not currently using it or have plans to use it that day, organize it and put it away. 5) Exercise…At least lightly Are you sick and tired of feeling sick tired?  Try exercising, at least lightly.  Physical activity will help blood circulation and stimulate your brain.  Believe it or not, exerting energy for a brief period of time each day will give you more energy throughout the rest of the day. 6) Take a Moment and Laugh Each and every day build in time to laugh.  Laughing will help reduce stress levels because of the endorphins that the brain releases which help relax the body.  Humor will increase your overall outlook on the day and make you more productive.   Watch a viral youtube video, follow a hilarious twitter feed, or read a comic. 7) Know Yourself If you are a morning person, tackle the majority of your highly prioritized tasks before lunch.  If you find yourself more productive in the afternoon, prepare yourself in the morning to tackle the important tasks with precision in the early afternoon.  The better you know yourself, the more productive you will be.
