McDowell News: WORKOUT ANYTIME Opens Newest Facility in Marion

Franchisee Mike King elaborates on opening exercise facility in the peak of summer and working with the local community

WORKOUT ANYTIME* franchisee Mike King is opening a new WORKOUT ANYTIME this summer in the small town of Marion, NC. The popular 24-hour model allows for Marion residents to exercise whenever fits their schedule by swiping in with a keycard when the gym is not staffed past 9 p.m. or before 9 a.m.

King has extensive experience in the industry, having spent several years managing gym operations for large fitness brands. However, after years of traveling, King decided to settle down, relocate to Marion and use his experience to focus on running his own gym.

“I will be moving there as a resident owner as well,” King told The McDowell News by phone. “I will be a part of the community. I have been in town for a few weeks. I have heard nothing but positive feedback. We are going to be the cleanest gym and the friendliest gym in the area.”

King and his business partner, Jefferson McBride are not stopping there. They plan to open a second WORKOUT ANYTIME next year in Asheville and are already planning to open a third location in North Carolina in late 2018. Overall, the brand sees great opportunity for further growth in the state.

“There are 10 million people in North Carolina, with a lot of small- and medium-sized towns where we thrive in,” WORKOUT ANYTIME Senior VP of Development Randy Trotter told McDowell News. “Throughout the region, there are under-served markets with little competition so we can grow almost anywhere in the Carolinas. We’re currently looking at growth more along the coast.”
