DoorDash, the San Francisco-based delivery service, launched new versions of its app and website on March 24. The new design system allows for faster navigation, search filters and a scorecard for restaurants.

The highlight of the new launch is DoorDash’s new star rating system “Delight scores.” The ratings system is based on customer’s satisfaction with the food they ordered and how frequently they order from the restaurant. DashDoor’s ratings system is intended to be objective about a restaurant’s food and not include any unpredictable factors, such as service from the wait staff or how a diner is feeling on a particular day.

“While customers now have the transparency to make well-informed decisions on where to order, restaurants can also use the score to improve their service and provide the best delivery experience possible. We are constantly tweaking the algorithm to ensure accurate scores and we update Delight scores regularly to incorporate the latest ratings, feedback and delivery data,” DoorDash Co-Founder and Chief Product Officer Stanley Tang said in a blog post.

DoorDash has a network of independent contract delivers in more than 250 cities across the U.S. that bring food to a hungry customer. The Delight score will have a 0 to 10 rating, with 10 being the highest score a restaurant can receive.
