For sisters&nbsp;<a href="https://www.linkedin.com/in/brookeyobo">Brooke Yobo</a> and&nbsp;<a href="https://www.linkedin.com/in/lindsay-keyser">Lindsay Keyser</a>, entrepreneurship was something they grew up watching, learning and quietly preparing for. Today, as co-owners of&nbsp;<a href="https://drymedicfranchise.com/">DRYmedic Restoration</a> in Lakewood Ranch, Florida, the duo is not only building a fast-scaling restoration business, but also reshaping what leadership looks like in a traditionally male-dominated industry.<h2>From Corporate Boardrooms to Business Ownership</h2>Before starting their&nbsp;<a href="https://1851franchise.com/drymedic-restoration/info">DRYmedic franchise</a>, the sisters both had great corporate careers.&nbsp;“I spent the majority of my career working in large accounting and consulting firms,” Yobo said. “How do we recruit, engage and retain the best staff, and drive operational efficiencies and strategy for large organizations? My co-partner in this business is my sister Lindsay Keyser, and a lot of her background was in marketing for large agriculture and tech firms.”Despite professional success, something was missing. “Our dad has always been an entrepreneur — we grew up around parents that took risks and pursued something different than working a nine-to-five,” Yobo said. “When we graduated college, both of us were college athletes. We loved highly competitive environments. We did the corporate world, and we could do that, but we got to a place where we knew we could do more.”For Yobo and Keyser, the question became deeply personal. “We didn’t want to continue to exchange our time for pay for the rest of our lives,” Yobo said. “We wanted to impact our local communities and grow something that we had complete ownership of.”<h2>Why Franchising and Why DRYmedic</h2>Like many aspiring business owners, the sisters initially explored concepts that aligned with their stage of life. “We’re moms in our mid-30s, so we looked at yoga studios, coffee shops — things that fit our demographic,” Yobo said. “But the more I looked into those business models, the more I wasn’t sure.”That uncertainty pushed them toward&nbsp;<a href="https://1851franchise.com/drymedic-restoration/carlos-hesano-serial-entrepreneur-dry-medic-franchise-growth-2731011">service-based businesses and the skilled trades</a>: categories with stronger margins, greater resilience and&nbsp;<a href="https://www.randstadusa.com/business/business-insights/talent-acquisition/2026-skilled-trades-hiring-framework-how-to-stay-ahead/?utm_source=national&amp;utm_medium=public-relations&amp;utm_campaign=press-release&amp;utm_content=ai-skilled-trades">long-term demand</a>.“We had a checklist of everything we wanted,” Yobo said. “We wanted something that would impact the local community. We both moved to Florida within the last five years and love the area here.”<a href="https://1851franchise.com/drymedic-restoration/drymedic-restoration-franchise-costs-fees-profit-data-2730874#featured">DRYmedic</a> quickly rose to the top. “We landed on DRYmedic because of their ability to scale rapidly, the core values they hold, and the fact that they were still an emerging brand,” Yobo said. “We wanted a brand we could grow with.”The economics mattered, too. “The margins in restoration are astounding compared to other trades, which was very attractive,” she said. “But the leadership of the franchise really drew us in. When you meet someone, you get that gut feeling. Then you look at their track record and know they’ll have your back.”For Yobo and Keyser, the alignment was clear. “The DRYMedic Team genuinely cared about us being successful,” she said. “The better we do, the better they do.”<h2>Learning Fast and Growing Through the Chaos</h2>The sisters officially opened their DRYmedic location in February 2024 — and immediately faced a trial by fire.“In our first year, we had three large hurricane storms hit our city,” Yobo said. “<a href="https://1851franchise.com/drymedic-restoration/drymedic-restoration-franchise-opportunity-2731012">In restoration, it ended up being a great first year</a>.”The transition, however, wasn’t easy. “Going from being in suits in boardrooms to being in hazmat suits tearing out drywall was a lot,” she said. “There’s a learning curve to owning your own business.”Those early months were intense. “There was excitement and joy, but also stress, anxiety and sleepless nights,” Yobo said. “Now we’re in a place where we have our feet under us. We know how to do this really well, and we’ve established ourselves in the community.”<h2>Scaling With Confidence and With Each Other</h2>With momentum building, Yobo and Keyser have set ambitious goals for the year ahead. “One of our goals is to double revenue without expanding territories,” Yobo said. “There is a significant amount of work here in Florida. We may also expand into another service trade that complements the business.”Through it all, their partnership remains the foundation. “The only reason we’re where we are today is because my sister is a total boss,” Yobo said. “There’s something really powerful about not being alone. I trust my sister more than anybody in my life.”Yobo is candid about the pressure many women face, especially those balancing careers, families and leadership roles. “A lot of women right now are tired and burned out, both at home and at work,” she said. “We feel pressure to be great at everything.”For her and Keyser, the answer wasn’t doing more, but doing something&nbsp;different. “If we wanted something different, we had to do something different,” Yobo said. “That comes with taking a risk, and that can feel scary. We asked ourselves, what’s the worst that could happen?
