Alex Dubois has been working in the service industry ever since he was 15 years old. Most recently, he has worked in the energy sector doing inspections, welding compliance and materials testing. Throughout his business career, Alex noticed he had a certain entrepreneurship about him. He has dabbled in business ownership in the past but recently took the leap by signing with 360 Painting. He officially opened on March 6 with a grand opening celebration that occurred March 13 at 1110 Park St, Beaumont, Texas 77701.

Dubois is really looking forward to this new journey and being able to bring a good brand and excellent service to the Beaumont area. Although this is Alex’s first location, he is looking forward to being able to stack multiple brands in the future with 360’s umbrella company, Premium Service Brands. He is eager to grow and learn more about the brand overall, and is really excited for the grand opening event coming up.

PROFILE QUESTIONS

1851 Franchise: Frame your personal story for us. What did you do before franchising, and how did you decide franchising made sense for you?

I've been in the service industry since I was 15. I've been working in the energy sector (oil gas, nuclear) doing quality inspections, welding, process equipment repair plans and testing since 2006. I have always wanted to be an entrepreneur. I have been a part of other companies in some form or fashion. The company I was with no longer met my goals, and this opportunity allowed me to check multiple boxes at once.  It will allow me to spend more time with my kids, it provides a system I can follow and I have the benefit of learning all along the way. They really provide a lot of support. This is definitely a leap of faith, but I think I made a good decision.

1851: What was your perception of franchising prior to becoming a franchisee, and what do you want people to know about franchising now that you are in it?

I thought it was all food, gym or grocery stores. I did not really think of franchising from a service standpoint. I'm still learning as I am going.

1851: What made you pick this brand? What excites you most about this company?

I talked to multiple other brands. PSB stood out to me because it can allow me to take what I learn with one brand and stack multiple brands in the future. The potential to grow is very promising. There's a lot of options with PSB. The amount of support that they offer and willingness to pivot when they have an issue, was also key.

1851: What do you hope to achieve with your business? What are your plans for growth?

My first goal is to become profitable. Once that is achieved, I want to learn and grow. I am ready to understand things that I haven't previously undertsood.  I would like to use this experience as a vehicle to learn business more thoroughly in a hands-on manner, earn enough to cover my financial obligations and all in a way that allows me to be a part of my kids' lives.

1851: What is the one thing about your story you want us to know?

I really care about making people happy. I want people to be satisfied with the work I provide. I want to provide an excellent  experience for people. I don't want people to use my services and regret in any way their choice in putting their trust in the services provided.

1851: What advice do you have for other people thinking about becoming a franchise owner?

Understand what you are wanting before you get into it, to the best that you can. Know what your goals are. Begin with the end in mind. Don’t think you know it all. Life is not just about making money, there is more to it. Can you complete multiple objectives with one choice?
