FOX Business: Hand & Stone Massage and Facial Spa Reopens 97% of its Franchises This Month

Hand & Stone Massage and Facial Spa CEO Todd Leff shares the spa’s new protocols amidst reopening efforts.

As select states begin reopening amidst COVID-19, salon and gym owners are among those preparing to welcome the public once again. Todd Leff, CEO of Hand & Stone Massage and Facial Spa — which was previously named one of the “top franchises to buy” by Forbes — shared that 461 of the spa’s 471 locations were approved to open earlier this month. Thrilled to be back in business, Hand & Stone is “outpacing it reopening projections,” Leff says.

Reopening in the midst of a pandemic means new protocols will be in place, and Leff reassured FOX Business that the salon is taking extra precautions to keep customers and employees safe and healthy. “We engaged a panel of medical and infectious disease experts to assess the risk and determine protocols to be put in place,” Leff explains.

New protocols include: requirement of all staff to wear PPE, requirement of estheticians to wear a face mask and face shield, requirement of customers to wear face masks, employee temperature checks prior to services and requirement of massage therapists to wash their hands before and after services.

In addition to reopening existing locations, Leff has plans to open 25 new Hand & Stone salons later this year, creating job opportunities for those who may have previously been unemployed as a result of COVID-19.
