On Tuesday, PepsiCo Inc announced its purchase of health beverage maker KeVita Inc,&nbsp;<a href="http://www.foxbusiness.com/markets/2016/11/22/pepsico-to-buy-probiotic-drinks-maker-kevita.html?utm_source=1851franchise.com&utm_medium=article&utm_campaign=fox-business-pepsico-to-buy-probiotic-drinks-maker-kevita-7953" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" style="text-decoration: none;" target="_blank">reports Fox Business</a>, &ldquo;in an effort to diversify its soft drinks business and tab health conscious consumers.&rdquo;

All of California-based KeVita&rsquo;s two dozen plus flavors of probiotic drinks are gluten-free, vegan and organic.

The Dr Pepper Snapple Group Inc also announced that it would purchase Bai Brands LLC, an antioxidant beverages maker. It&rsquo;s clear that there was a big of competition taking place between the Dr Pepper Snapple Group Inc and PepsiCo Inc, seeing as Reuters reported Pepsi was nearing a deal to purchase KeVita just last month.

All these purchases took place only a week after&nbsp;<a href="http://1851franchise.com/storypage/details/7655.html" style="text-decoration: none;" target="_blank">five U.S. cities announced new taxes on sodas</a>.
