Franchise Opportunity Deep Dive: Meineke is a full-service automotive repair and maintenance franchise offering a one-stop solution for everyday car care needs.

Meineke is a nationally recognized automotive aftermarket franchise providing full-service repair and maintenance, including brakes, exhaust, oil changes, steering and suspension, tires, diagnostics and preventive car care. The brand is positioned as a trusted, technology-forward neighborhood shop serving drivers who are keeping their vehicles longer and relying more heavily on aftermarket service providers.
Meineke was founded in 1972 in San Antonio, Texas, by Sam Meineke, originally as Meineke Discount Muffler. The brand began franchising the same year and built its reputation on affordability, consistency, and innovation.
In 1999, Meineke evolved into a full-service automotive care model and later became part of Driven Brands, a leading automotive services platform backed by Roark Capital. Today, Meineke operates as a core brand within Driven Brands’ extensive automotive portfolio.
Mission: To deliver reliable automotive repair and maintenance services that keep drivers safe and help vehicles last longer.
Vision: To be a trusted automotive service brand nationwide by investing in technology, smart operations, and consistent customer service.
Meineke continues to have availability in select U.S. markets. Territories are identified using a data-driven approach based on population density, vehicle counts and competitive dynamics.

Before opening, Meineke helps franchisees choose the right location using data to identify markets with strong demand. The brand also supports market planning and territory review to set each shop up for long-term success. Franchisees receive pre-opening marketing support to help build local awareness before launch.
Meineke provides onboarding and operational training to help new owners learn the systems, service standards and day-to-day operations. Support continues after opening through virtual and in-field coaching based on each location’s needs. Franchisees also have 24/7 access to training resources and ongoing business education through the brand’s learning platforms.
Ongoing operational support includes access to KPI dashboards that allow franchisees to track performance and identify opportunities for improvement. Meineke also supports franchisees through vendor sourcing and centralized purchasing programs that streamline operations. In addition, the brand manages multi-channel marketing programs at the national and local level to help drive customer demand.
Franchisees use a proprietary management portal to keep daily operations and priorities organized. The system includes tools for scheduling and customer communication, helping service run more smoothly. Built-in reporting gives owners insight into performance so they can improve efficiency and grow profitability over time.
A strong business or multi-unit operational experience is preferred, but not required.
Meineke is designed as an owner-operator or actively managed business. While semi-absentee ownership may be possible in limited cases, strong day-to-day oversight is generally expected.
Franchisees may access third-party financing options and lender relationships familiar with the Meineke and Driven Brands system.
“I saw that Meineke had a proven playbook for success. And with the ever-changing technology in vehicles today, Meineke would provide the information and training to help us stay up to date on all the latest procedures. My technicians work on so many different makes, models and years of vehicles, it could be a real challenge without the training and support of the Meineke team and their vendors.”

The entire U.S. automotive aftermarket, including light-, medium- and heavy-duty vehicles, reached nearly $535 billion in 2024 and is projected to grow to approximately $574 billion by 2026, reflecting continued demand for maintenance and repair services across all vehicle segments.
Meineke competes with independent repair shops and national service brands such as Midas, Pep Boys, Take 5 and Firestone. Its differentiation comes from brand recognition, full-service scope, and the operational scale of Driven Brands.
