Minuteman Press assists franchisees with site selection and the negotiation of the commercial lease for their store location. Once a site is secured, the franchisor provides planning and layout assistance to ensure the center complies with standard brand appearance. Additionally, a qualified field representative is assigned to the location for a minimum of 60 hours during the initial setup to assist with equipment installation and operational launch.
Franchisees must complete a 10-day training program held over a two-week period (which can be conducted at the New York headquarters or virtually). The curriculum covers technical skills like digital printing and bindery alongside business management topics such as marketing, ROI and recordkeeping.
The franchisor provides ongoing assistance through a regional office network that offers technical and marketing advice. Franchisees have access to a centralized 800-number communication center for operational questions and will receive periodic newsletters containing marketing and technical tips. Minuteman also provides an official manual of operations and samples of approved advertising materials to guide daily business activities.
Franchisees are required to utilize the proprietary FLEX Management Software (which is used for pricing, customer database management and tracking accounts receivable). The system is integrated with a specific hardware package that includes Dell computers, battery backups and various specialized printers.
Prior experience is not needed to own and operate a Minuteman Press franchise. Franchise owners will be focusing their efforts on working with their clients, management and marketing, all of which is covered in training and strengthened through the local support office.
Minuteman Press locations must remain under the continuous supervision of a manager who has successfully completed the franchisor's training program. Administrative obligations include the mandatory use of proprietary FLEX software and designated accounting systems to track all point-of-sale and accounting data. Furthermore, owners must submit monthly gross revenue reports by the 10th day of each month and are obligated to join and participate in at least two local business or civic organizations.
Minuteman Press generally does not offer direct or indirect financing for a franchisee's initial investment, equipment or continuing operations. Additionally, the franchisor does not guarantee a franchisee’s note, lease or any other third-party obligations.
Qualifying veterans are eligible to receive a $10,000 discount on the initial franchise fee for a new center or a $5,000 discount for an existing center.
"Minuteman Press is outstanding. They are always there for support. I couldn’t imagine how we would have navigated the pandemic without them. Over the years, they have always been there when I’ve needed them and they are always looking for ways to help us be more successful. Minuteman Press truly cares about their franchisees."
- Doug Walton, Franchise Owner — Fredericksburg, Virginia
"I appreciate the freedom Minuteman Press International gives us to do what we want as business owners, while being there with so much support when we ask for it. I cannot imagine being an independent print shop. How do they get by without the support we have? As a franchised marketing services provider, I enjoy the variety of work we get to do and the fact that we are fully capable of helping our clients get back to focusing on the growth of their own businesses. We do it every day. I like to think that we take care of the ordinary so that the client can get back to the extraordinary."
- Brad Wagner, Franchise Owner — Crystal Lake, Illinois
