Jamie Jean and Drew Schneeloch are turning from friends to business partners to develop Right at Home* in Massachusetts.

Growing up in Indiana with a general practitioner father, Jamie was immersed in the medical field from a young age. He would often accompany his father on nursing home visits and became fascinated with the healthcare industry. After graduating from Northeastern University with a bachelor’s degree in finance and business management, Jamie built a successful career in the finance industry for more than 25 years. Through his experiences, Jamie learned how to manage a company and lead a team. While climbing the corporate ladder, Jamie met his future wife, Claudia, and the two started a family.

Through his children’s athletic activities, Jamie was introduced to Drew Schneeloch and they quickly bonded over their mutual business aspirations. Though he was happy in the corporate world, Jamie had the desire to become a business owner and began to investigate his options. Recalling his experiences with his father, as well as his mother’s fight with dementia, Jamie knew he wanted to work with senior citizens and contribute to the community.

Jamie and Drew discussed different opportunities and began researching the franchise industry. When the duo came across Right at Home, the brand’s mission and values spoke to them. The friends quickly realized the potential for success by running a Right at Home, so they decided to expand the brand on the South Shore of Massachusetts.

How did you find out about Right at Home?

JAMIE: With my mother battling dementia, we were familiar with the industry and we were always looking for additional help. Claudia and I spent a lot of time researching the industry and we came across Right at Home as a top contender.

Why did you choose an opportunity with Right at Home?

You know, I was enjoying my life in the corporate world. But with Right at Home, I really feel good about what I am doing and I’m thrilled to go to work because I know I’ll be making a difference. I knew I wanted to stay in Massachusetts and was looking for a franchise system that I could succeed in by applying my past experiences and background to. The corporate team at Right at Home truly cares; they don’t want to just sell franchises, they want to help in any way they can. Plus, the business model was very impressive.

What personal experience do you have in your own family with caring for a senior?

After my father passed away, my mother developed dementia. My brother and I wanted her to be closer to us and did everything in our power to ensure that that happened. We all saw firsthand how in-home care benefitted both the patient and their entire family. Before our mother passed away in 2011, we got her an apartment that was closer to us and brought in 24-hour support for her; my older brother managed and scheduled a majority of the help. It really showed us how helpful having a caregiver can be.
