Jennifer Jones and Brent Laing, former Olympic curling champions, have transitioned from sports to business by taking over a Weed Man lawn care franchise in Ontario, Canada, Entrepreneur Magazine reports. Both bring their competitive spirit, work ethic and resilience from their athletic careers to their new venture. Laing, whose parents started the franchise in 1982, grew up around the business, making this a natural fit for the couple. The franchise is deeply rooted in their family and community, and Jones and Laing are dedicated to maintaining its local, family-oriented feel while growing the business.

Their Olympic experience has instilled a drive to continually improve, a mindset they now apply to business operations. Jones, a lawyer by profession, believes in the importance of self-belief, constructive criticism, and hard work — traits that have seamlessly transferred from her successful sports career to entrepreneurship.

“It’s the competitive nature and always trying to strive to be better,” Jones said. “As an athlete, you’re never satisfied with the status quo. You’re always trying to figure out ways to be better.”

The couple is also committed to balancing their roles as parents and business owners, integrating their children into the business, much like they did with their curling careers.
