Hand & Stone Massage and Facial Spa, which makes luxurious spa experiences available to the masses, is expanding its services to Georgetown, Texas. U.S. Army veteran of 33 years, Darrell Aubry, has signed on to open the franchise later this year.
After serving in the U.S. Army for 33 years, Darrell Aubrey will be retiring this fall to kick off the first of what he anticipates will be several Hand & Stone locations in Georgetown, Texas. Aubrey spent years traveling as part of his military service, earning two master’s degrees and a PhD in leadership and management in the process. As Aubrey began looking to retire from the service and his current professorship with Army War College in Pennsylvania, him and his wife considered franchising. Following his first massage as part of his recovery from a shoulder injury, Aubrey realized that the massage industry afforded a compelling business opportunity. After having a superior experience at Hand & Stone as compared to the initial competitor he’d first visited, Aubrey was on board. He requested a Hand & Stone territory in the Austin market and was awarded the Georgetown area, much to him and his wife’s joy, as the two were already intending to move to lower-traffic Georgetown after Aubrey closed out his professorship at Army War College. Aubrey and his wife plan to move to Georgetown at the end of the summer. As of Spring 2019, Aubrey has signed the franchise agreement and is in the process of scouting real estate for his Hand & Stone location.
“We had been planning to move to Georgetown, which had a great population and not a lot of traffic, and then when the Hand & Stone corporate team came back to let us know that we had been awarded the Georgetown territory, it was just fate. We couldn’t be more excited,” Aubrey said.
