Business is Booming for Buzz Franchise Brands’ Newest Concept, Home Clean Heroes

Read more about how this new residential cleaning company found immense success within its first year of operation.

Buzz Franchise Brands’ newest concept, Home Clean Heroes, has been taking the residential cleaning industry by storm since launching in Virginia Beach in May of 2017. In a little over a year, the brand has found success building off of the customer-centric approach of sister concept Pool Scouts, and former sister brand Mosquito Joe, two nationally recognized service franchises.

As the executive team looks to expand through franchising, Home Clean Heroes hopes to mimic the formula that has helped their first location grow from Virginia Beach to the greater Hampton Roads communities in new markets. “The brand instantly had a fan base in Virginia Beach because of the popularity of Pool Scouts and Mosquito Joe.” Home Clean Heroes and Buzz Franchise Brands CEO Kevin Wilson explained in an interview with 1851. “The locals live extremely healthy lifestyles. They are always outside, which is great but leads to dirt and residue building up within their homes. We help them tidy up.”

Home Clean Heroes approaches a dated industry with a new light. “We don’t use 'maid' as part of our vernacular; it’s an old and tired term and conjures up an image that is different than who we are. We call our cleaning specialists and our franchisees 'heroes' -- it’s reflective of the work they do,” said Wilson.

Additionally, the brand’s “new-school mindset” for the home cleaning industry has resulted in new customer acquisition by taking every precaution to ensure there’s no cross-contamination between services. Virginia Beach Office Manager Brittany Wellman explained, “Other cleaning services provide their employees with a set of towels used throughout the day. While Home Clean Heroes provides a set of towels and supplies per house, we take this one step further by color coding each towel corresponding to the room it is used in. We aim to avoid cross contamination even in single rooms in the home.” This level of attention to detail is one reason the Virginia Beach territory reported $212,525 in gross revenue during its first year in operation, completing 1518 services and helping more than 413 customers.

Adding to the attention to detail, Home Clean Heroes prides itself on customer service. Nearly 60% of Home Clean Heroes customers found out about the brand through direct mail and digital marketing, meaning approximately 40% of Home Clean Heroes come from customer referrals or other grass root marketing efforts. “Our goal with Home Clean Heroes is to maintain customer satisfaction, something lacking within the home cleaning industry nowadays, and I believe we are off to a great start,” said Wilson. And according to Virginia Beach Office Manager Brittany Wellman, the success stems from the brand’s connection to its customers. “We try to have a familiar face when we come out to the home – something that other cleaning services don’t always do,” she said. “Having the same team lead come to the home helps ease the customer’s mind and increase the comfort level for us being there.”

As a result, Home Clean Heroes in Virginia Beach has also reported an average recurring service rate of 84%. “We try to make a personal connection with customers. We look at it as a long-term relationship rather than a single clean or single service,” according to Denise Morris, Home Clean Heroes Vice President of Local Operations in Virginia Beach.

On top of client satisfaction, Home Clean Heroes prides itself on becoming an active part of the community. Recently, the Virginia Beach location launched a partnership with Cleaning For A Reason, a global organization that gives back to families battling cancer. “Joining Cleaning For A Reason is a way for our brand to connect with the local community in a meaningful way,” said Director of Marketing Kathy Turley. “We believe that every home needs a hero, and providing complimentary cleaning services to cancer patients lets us help families maintain some sense of normalcy during a turbulent and emotional time. Having lost both my parents to cancer within a year of one another, I know first-hand how comforting it can be to have the housekeeping tasks taken care of.” This local giveback will be encouraged for all of the future franchises.

The brand has great plans for growth over the next few years. Wilson says, “We hope to spark new growth for Home Clean Heroes in other areas of the country including - and beyond - where Pool Scouts and Mosquito Joe have already seen success.”
