How One Scoop Soldiers Franchisee Hit $900K in Revenue
Born and raised in Plano, Texas, this Scoop Soldiers franchisee has worked his way to the top.
Ryan McCoy, franchise owner of Scoop Soldiers, hit $900,000 in revenue this past year. Scoop Soldiers, the 35-plus unit, ever-growing, pet waste removal company has been in business since 2010 and already has locations in 11 states.
McCoy started his career working in a restaurant and then began working with Scoop Soldiers on the corporate side as a manager in 2017.
“I came on with Scoop Soldiers on the corporate side as the first manager overseeing the Dallas area,” said McCoy. “From there, I watched and helped it grow from seven trucks to 75 in 12 cities and seven states.”
The pet waste removal brand started franchising in 2019 and soon sold three franchises within that same year. Seeing the immediate success of franchising on a company-level made it an easy decision for McCoy to go into franchising for himself.
“Franchising was a pretty easy decision, as I worked with the corporate side for five years prior,; helped them grow and learn the business; and all the ins and outs of everything,” explained McCoy.
“When franchising was an option, it was essentially a chance for me to go back to where I began with Scoop Soldiers—with the amount of trucks and a smaller area with all the experience of doing it on a wider scale.”
His experience working on the corporate side of Scoop Soldiers is part of the reason he is now such a successful franchisee. McCoy also saw immediate success because he purchased an enhanced territory from Scoop Soldiers. A Scoop Soldiers ‘enhanced territory’ is how the corporate operation establishes and develops a client base in a particular market, as they build long-term name recognition for candidate franchise owners to invest in.
The enhanced territory option allows the franchisor to offer more opportunities to its potential franchisees while gaining insight that only comes with firsthand experience. McCoy purchased an enhanced territory in Dallas and now owns five territories in Texas with around 1,100 clients.
Through purchasing an enhanced territory and leveraging this advantage, McCoy was able to hit a notable $900,000 in revenue last year.
“It felt good to hit $900,000. It was a bummer we didn’t hit a million, but that should be easy to hit this coming year.”
“The great thing about the franchise opportunity that Scoop Soldiers provides is that if you decide to get an established territory like I did, or territories, that you're making revenue from day one,” said McCoy. “The clientele is already there. Then you just add to it as you go.”
Since entering the industry, McCoy says it’s gotten a lot more mainstream. There’s far more public awareness about pet waste removal brands, and more people are looking to start their own businesses.
“If you’re interested in Scoop Soldiers, go for it. The help on the corporate side is there to help you succeed.”
