JAN-PRO Franchise Development | WHY I BOUGHT
Brad Rush, the top-performing Regional Developer in the JAN-PRO Franchise Development network, explains how he got started in business, what drives his success and much more.
With JAN-PRO Franchise Development™, the commercial cleaning franchise with 120 Regional Developers worldwide, scalability is the name of the game. Just ask Brad Rush, owner of the JAN-PRO Franchise Development office in Atlanta, co-owner of JAN-PRO Franchise Development Oklahoma City, Phoenix and Central Alabama. In 2001, Rush bought the rights to the Atlanta market, followed by the Oklahoma City territory a few years later. Across these locations they provide support for more than 500 independently owned JAN-PRO Cleaning & Disinfecting unit franchisees, servicing more than 3,000 businesses every week. Although Rush has worked his way up to becoming the system’s top-performing Regional Developer, he says he is just getting started.
Rush was first introduced to the JAN-PRO Franchise Development model a few years after college by his father, who suggested they invest in the concept as a family business opportunity. He was skeptical at first — he didn’t want to start a cleaning business — but then he looked a little closer.
JAN-PRO operates in a three-tier business model — JAN-PRO Systems International™ sells Regional Developer territory licenses to entrepreneurs who essentially act as “franchisors” by selling individual JAN-PRO Cleaning & Disinfecting™ franchises to unit-level entrepreneurs in their protected territory.
“As I pulled the layers back, I realized we’re not in the cleaning business,” said Rush. “Our job is to lead and coach others who have a dream of running their own business. I started to understand the competition. I felt there were opportunities where we could differentiate ourselves from what was going on in the marketplace.”
As regional franchisors, JAN-PRO Franchise Development enables entrepreneurs to build the business of their dreams by providing coaching and guidance available from the in-market experts at JAN-PRO Systems International.
Under the executive model, Regional Developers like Rush spend their days running a professional-looking corporate office with salespeople, marketing professionals and support staff that provide coaching and consultative services to JAN-PRO Cleaning & Disinfecting unit-level franchisees to help their businesses develop and grow. With this, Regional Developers have an opportunity to leverage an unparalleled brand reputation and steadily growing demand in their scalable territory.
And Rush is a prime example of this scalability. Today, Rush is proud to be JAN-PRO Franchise Development’s top-performing Regional Developer. But that doesn’t mean he’s slowing down. He says his primary goal is to leverage the tried and proven business model to ensure that his business continues to grow well into the future.
“We want to make sure the JAN-PRO Cleaning & Disinfecting independent franchisees remain at the cutting edge of what they’re doing,” Rush said. “We’re not coaching them how to be great cleaners. We’re cultivating and coaching them on how to be great business owners.”
After 20 years, Rush says his favorite part of being a Regional Developer is the privilege and opportunity to support a group of people whom he has tremendous admiration and respect for.
“To wake up every day and know, based on how effective we are at what we’re tasked with doing, the impact that it can have on the JAN-PRO Cleaning & Disinfecting certified franchisees’ own businesses, their careers, their livelihoods, their idea of exceeding what they thought was even possible, is one of the best and greatest blessings that I’ve ever had,” Rush said.
Now, JAN-PRO Franchise Development is looking for other business leaders like Rush who are passionate about entrepreneurship and want to own a business that improves people’s lives. The brand is looking to fill available territories in secondary markets such as Des Moines, Albuquerque, Reno or Wichita. The states of Hawaii and Alaska are also currently available for development.
The total investment necessary to begin the operation of a Jan-Pro Franchise Development regional developer franchise business is between $127,500 and $769,000. This includes between $50,000 and $600,000 that must be paid to the franchisor or its affiliate(s).
