Jersey Mike's Celebrates Milestone
Jersey Mike's, one of the country's fastest growing chains, celebrates its 1,000th opening.
In 1956, a man named Mike opened a small sub shop in the seaside town of Point Pleasant, New Jersey. Today, what started as a modest mom-and-pop business has grown into the fastest growing chain in the country—Jersey Mike’s Subs.
On Oct. 14, Jersey Mike’s, best known for its premium sliced and grilled subs and freshly-baked breads, celebrated a new milestone in its continuing growth: The opening of its 1,000th restaurant.
“It may have taken us 40 years to get to 1,000 restaurants, but Jersey Mike’s expects to double that in the next four years, reaching 2,000 locations by 2019,” Peter Cancro, the founder of Jersey Mike’s, said in a press release. “We are just getting started, and today we celebrate the owners and their crews, and everyone who helped to achieve this milestone.”
