Meat Alternatives are Front and Center at This Year's NRA Show
The 2019 National Restaurant Association Show floor was dominated by plant-based foods.
While it’s no surprise that the floor of the 2019 National Restaurant Association Show mirrored the restaurant industry trends brought forth by the news in recent months, the extent to which the plant-based craze has taken hold was more evident than ever before when under one roof.
Restaurant Business cataloged the growing number of plant-based food options on display that are newly available or expected to hit the market in the coming months. Outside of just Beyond Meat and Impossible Foods, the show brought varied meat alternatives to the forefront: including brands like Ocean Hugger Foods, which makes a tuna alternative for use in sushi; Nature’s Farm, which debuted banana blossom as a vegan alternative to fish; and Just Inc.’s dairy-free egg substitute.
