What started as a single opportunity has evolved into a high-performing, multi-territory enterprise for the Rozler family. Today, Johanna, Dean, and their son Jacob “Jake” Rozler are behind one of the most successful Merry Maids operations in the country, earning national recognition as they expand across Western New York.
A Family Business Built From the Ground Up
Johanna Rozler’s journey with Merry Maids began long before the family enterprise took shape.
“After college, I took a job as an office assistant at a Merry Maids location that had just opened,” Johanna said. “I moved up to manager, and that franchisee often said he would leave the business to me when he passed. He did indeed do so, and we’ve owned it since 2010.”
That foundation laid the groundwork for what would eventually become a multi-generational business. Jake, who quite literally grew up around the operation, entered the business from the ground level.
“When Jake was just coming of age, he came into the industry as a cleaner,” Johanna said. “He took his first steps at a Merry Maids. He understood from the beginning what it takes to run your own business.”
Jake’s early exposure gave him a full-spectrum understanding of the business.
“When I graduated, I started doing more office work. I really got a taste of everything,” Jake said. “Eventually, I got some general manager experience there as well.”
Jake stepped away for his MBA and some time to find his own path, before coming back in 2022 to help take the family business into its next chapter.
Scaling Through Strategic Expansion
The Rozlers were intentional about how they grew the business. “As this was happening, we purchased a second license and a third license, all working out of the same location,” Johanna said. “We were growing nicely.”
Then came a pivotal moment: the opportunity to acquire a location in Williamsville.
“I got a phone call in 2021 from the owners in the Williamsville location… they were closing and wanted to know if we were interested,” Johanna said. “I told Jake I wasn’t that interested, but he said he would invest.”
Jake and Dean stepped in, acquired the business, which set the stage for this new growth.
“We went through all the calls, and I never had intentions on working in the business full time,” Jake said. “But it’s really been taking off ever since then. Our second year, we saw 113% growth.”
Eventually, the family decided to consolidate everything into a single unified operation.
“At some point, we decided it made the most sense to consolidate into a singular enterprise,” Johanna said. “So it became five franchise licenses, one enterprise, and two office locations in Orchard Park and Williamsville.”
Raising the Bar
The Rozlers’ impact was significant enough to earn national recognition. At the 2026 Merry Maids Annual Conference, the Rozlers took home multiple top honors, including:
- Dallen Peterson Founders Award: recognizing the top-performing operation in the system
- Circle of Excellence: awarded to high-performing franchisees across key metrics
- Turnaround Location of the Year: highlighting exceptional performance improvement
Culture, Community, and Purpose
Today, the Rozlers oversee one of Merry Maids’ top-performing franchise operations, a business that has evolved from Johanna’s first role as an office assistant into a true family enterprise built over time.
“The thing I love most about the business is our ‘one less thing to worry about’ slogan,” Jake said. “We are providing that peace of mind for families. And we can also give back to the community. We’ve been able to provide cleaning services for a friend of mine who has brain cancer, for example. They are so appreciative that we are helping them get through this difficult time, and that is so rewarding.”
In many ways, that balance, steady growth, family-built roots, and showing up for people in moments that matter, is what has quietly defined the Rozlers’ journey from a single office role to a thriving franchise operation.
