After opening 11 new restaurants in 2023, Pollo Campero, the Central American chicken franchise with 97 units in the U.S. and another 270 worldwide, is looking to open at least 25 more this year. As it continues to grow aggressively across the U.S., eyeing the 250-unit mark, Pollo Campero is looking to add seven new restaurants across Arkansas.

“Arkansas is an attractive development market for us. We have been successfully operating a non-traditional location inside a Walmart in Rogers since 2008, so Pollo Campero is already known in the state,” said Blas Escarcega, vice president of franchise development. “We see a bright future for our expansion in Arkansas because the state is business-friendly and is expected to see continued economic growth.”

Escarcega also explained that there is a strong Central American population in Arkansas and continues to see an influx as people move there to support manufacturing and food processing plants in the area. This further supports Pollo Campero’s growth as the brand has a sizable fan base that likely already knows and loves the brand. As it adds more units across Arkansas, it can better serve the Central American population while introducing the concept to new guests who will develop a similar affinity.

Pollo Campero offers flavorful chicken meals and Central American-inspired sides like yuca fries and sweet plantains. In markets like Arkansas, the unique menu allows franchisees to tap into an already booming market (chicken) with a fresh take that’s appealing to legacy fans and first-time diners.

With plans to develop seven more restaurants across the state, including one within the next year, Pollo Campero is targeting Fayetteville, North Little Rock, Bentonville, Rogers and Springdale. These markets have plenty of reasonably priced real estate available, so franchisees have the flexibility to choose the site that best fits the needs of their businesses and unique communities.

“Flexibility in the real estate process can be very helpful for franchisees during the development process,” explained Escarcega. “Because there are many sites available across Arkansas, new Pollo Campero owners will have an opportunity to choose the absolute best location for their new restaurant.”

As Pollo Campero continues to support this expansion, leaders are consistently visiting the market and will return later this year to meet with interested entrepreneurs and further explore opportunities in the area.
