QSR: Voice Activation Spurs an Ordering Revolution

More major brands continue to roll out voice activation ordering technology.

When mobile ordering came to the market, it caught on like wildfire, making it easier than ever for consumers to order food from home or while in transit. Now, restaurants are banking on the same kind of revolution with voice activated ordering through technologies like the Amazon Alexa and Echo, and Google Home.

"The pro of voice ordering is really the convenience," said Domino’s director of digital experience Chris Roeser. "There’s an incredibly low barrier to entry, which means that customers will be able to think it, speak it, and get it. The cons are the learning curve, on both the customer and business side, as well as the fact that we’re transitioning from a world that is very visual to one that may not have a visual fallback."
