Restaurants Turn to Automation To Relieve Staffing Shortage Issues
Automation is helping restaurants find more effective solutions to staffing shortages, to reduce human errors and to improve kitchen efficiency.
Restaurants may be able to find relief in staffing shortages with automated technology. Restaurant Business Online recently reported that many restaurants are utilizing automated kitchens to increase productivity and reduce errors.
“The scarcity of workers is forcing restaurant owners to make do with a smaller staff,” the report said. “Many restaurants have turned to technology to create more efficient operations and to optimize their use of staff and sources. Even before the pandemic, bars and restaurants were using technology for reservations, ordering and tracking safety practices; however, since the pandemic, many have invested in technology designed to reduce contact and maintain distances.”
Automated technology in restaurants can help when employees are out due to COVID protocols, while also making tasks such as food prep, scheduling, ordering, tracking reservations and cashing out guests more efficient.
Buffalo Wild Wings is just one example of a restaurant using automated technology to ease the pressure of being understaffed. Restaurant Dive reported that the chain is testing out robotic chicken wing fryers for high-volume restaurants to help them get orders out the door.
