Despite this achievement, the World Health Organization estimates that 80 million people worldwide still need wheelchairs, with less than 10% having access to them.In Kenya, Adam and Kola participated in building and fitting wheelchairs, working in villages around Nanyuki. “Just to see the smiles on people’s faces when they were in their wheelchairs — they were so grateful,” Kola said. “One gentleman was a double amputee who taught Sunday school. His wife carried him on her back to church every Sunday. It is a kilometer away from their house, and after church, she carried him back home.
