Romeo’s Pizza Announces Winner of Nameless Pizza Contest; Donates One Year of Free Pizza to Westerville Area Resource Ministry

Romeo’s Pizza, the award-winning, 50+-unit pizza franchise, was created with the belief that pizza brings people together, creating a sense of community wherever it appears. One of the most recent ways the brand has promoted this community-oriented culture is with its Nameless Pizza Contest — a challenge where fans were asked to submit their suggestions for the name of a new Romeo’s pizza, and users voted for their favorite. Now, after weeks of voting, Bernie Lockard of Westerville, Ohio has been named the victor, with his name entry, “Mad Honey,” receiving the most votes on Facebook.

As the contest winner, Lockard not only won the naming rights of the new pizza, but also free Romeo’s Pizza for a year. However, in line with the Romeo’s Pizza spirit, Lockard decided to donate his grand prize to those in need in his Westerville community. For the donation, Lockard and the Columbus Romeo's Pizza location will partner with WARM (Westerville Area Resource Ministry), an organization that aims to provide compassionate short-term assistance, educational services and spiritual support in order to encourage individuals to achieve a God-reliant, self-sufficient life while restoring dignity and hope with a “hand up, not a hand out.”

"I know people in these kinds of shelters are going through the hardest times of their lives and I am thrilled to partner with Romeo’s to bring them just a second of normalcy and joy with a slice of pizza," Lockard said.

Romeo’s Pizza CEO Ryan Rose says the brand could not be more supportive of Lockard’s decision to donate his grand prize. “As Local Pizza Champions, we strive to make a positive and measurable difference in our communities, and it means so much more when we are all involved,” said Rose. “We are proud that Bernie understands the emphasis we place on making a difference and we are excited to see him pay it forward to his local community.
