Lenny's Subs has San Antonio, Texas, expansion on the mind, and is planning to increase its presence in the market. The brand currently has four locations in the area and is looking to use that footprint to expand–mainly in the northwestern submarket–to bring 15 new restaurants over the next 18 months and 25 by 2018.

San Antonio’s growing population and job market is making it an attractive city for franchises, particularly for food concepts.

Bob Ritter, Lenny's Subs vice president of franchise and market development, said the growth and economics in San Antonio are "really perfect" for franchisees.

"When you go in with a smaller brand, the biggest key will be to get the product in people's mouths," Ritter said.

He said the brand looks for locations that have a significant business presence around it, high traffic, an evening crowd, and visibility from the road.
