King Cake smoothies debut on Smoothie King’s menu just in time for Carnival Season. An ode to the brand’s New Orleans roots, the King Cake smoothie will be available for the limited King Cake Season, January 6 (King’s Day) through February 9 (Mardi Gras).
Smoothie King continues to innovate with new product offerings like Greek Yogurt, Veggie Blends, Vegan Smoothies and seasonal favorites like Pumpkin and Dark Chocolate. While all of these smoothies are developed by Smoothie King’s product development team to optimize flavor, the team also has to deliver on Smoothie King’s mission to inspire guests to live a healthy and active lifestyle with products that offer benefits to help each guest reach their purpose.
“Our guests have come to expect a great tasting smoothie, no matter what their purpose. With the new King Cake smoothies we are excited to give guests a great way to indulge on a seasonal favorite with a better-for-you option!” says Davis Jaeger, food scientist and product development manager at Smoothie King.
King Cake has been a delicious accompaniment of the Mardi Gras tradition and the New Orleans culture. The pastry is dough rolled on top of each other, and it comes slathered with icing that’s brightly decorated by sprinkles of the Mardi Gras colors: purple, green and gold. To celebrate this confectionary delicacy, Smoothie King will be introducing two new smoothies that will be available from January 6 (King’s Day) to February 9th (Mardi Gras). King Cake – Gladiator® will include the brand’s vanilla Gladiator protein powder, almond milk, banana, cinnamon and almond and vanilla extract. King Cake – Frozen Yogurt will also be available with non-fat frozen yogurt instead of the brand’s proprietary protein supplement Gladiator®. Jaeger said the drinks are a fair representation of the Mardi Gras festival.
“These smoothies tell the story of Mardi Gras, the King Cake and our own Gladiator® protein,” he said. “Not only will these smoothies be a great option for our guests during King Cake season, but can also be incorporated into our Change A Meal Challenge which encourages guests to reach their weight loss goals during the first of the year.”
The King Cake smoothies will be offered for a limited time and in select markets: Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama.
Jaeger is especially excited about the prospect, “this is the first time we’ve really tapped into our New Orleans roots in a big way with a new product offering, and it has cake in the name of course it’s going to taste great!”
