1. Frantastic: We have some Frantastic news for brands that want to catch big-fish, multi-unit franchisees. In honor of the Multi-Unit Franchising Conference, 1851 rounded up five insights that will help brands better strategize when it comes to attracting this coveted group of local business owners. From focusing on your brand’s “why now” story to the importance of your digital footprint, it’s beneficial for brands to keep these tips in mind.

2. Franlebrity: 1851’s annual Franchise Legal Players issue is officially here! We’ve created profiles for attorneys in the franchising industry, and this week, we’re giving a shout out to the first batch of Franlebrities who were featured on our site. Head to 1851 to learn more about why Ritchie Taylor, Charles Internicola, Rochelle Spandorf, Andrew Bleiman, Amy Cheng, Tom Spadea, Alexander Tuneski, Evan Goldman and John Gotaskie are some of 2018’s Franchise Legal Players.

3. Frash Money: Recognizing that value and great deals are of great importance to consumers, Dunkin’ Donuts is now finding a new way to tap into that trend in an effort to bring in more Frash Money. The brand has added Dunkin’ Go2s to its menu, which is a new tiered breakfast menu that features items at $2, $3 and $5. This new menu option is designed to help the brand make the most out of its morning business.

4. Frant of the Week: Consumers have said it loud and clear—convenience is king. They’re willing to pay more for your food to be delivered than to eat it in your restaurant. That’s why in today’s GrubHub-centric world, it’s important for marketers to step up their game. In his latest Frant, No Limit Agency* CEO Nick Powills explains how brands can take back control and get ahead of this industry trend that’s not going anywhere. Head to 1851 to read the full Frant.

5. Franch Forward: Brands can now Franch Forward without using Facebook Messenger. Apple recently rolled out its new Business Chat, which allows consumers to message companies via iMessage. The platform is similar to Facebook Messenger and allows users to search for brands via Maps, Safari or Spotlight Search on their iPhones. Customers can also ask brands questions or make purchases using Apple Pay through Business Chat. Early partners for the new platform include Home Depot, Marriott and Wells Fargo.

6. Fran Funny: Even though April Fools’ Day is officially behind us, this week’s Fran Funny comes from the brands that decided to get in on the fun. From Snapchat and Netflix to Amazon and Burger King, here are the best—and worst—pranks that brands pulled off earlier this week.

7. Franspiration: “You need to find an experienced franchise attorney that you can relate to on both a personal and a professional level.  You will spend a fair amount of time working together and the experience needs to be enjoyable even when you are dealing with intricate legal issues.” – Marisa Faunce on what franchisors and franchisees should look for when identifying the right franchise attorney.

8. Franemies vs. Frands: McDonald’s is actively taking steps to be a better Frand to its employees. The brand has committed to a $150 million, five-year plan that will boost its global Archways to Opportunity Platform, ultimately providing nearly 400,000 U.S. restaurant employees with access to the program. Archways to Opportunity offers employees the chance to get a high school diploma, receive college tuition assistance and more. Through this new commitment, McDonald’s is lowering the eligibility requirements for the program.
