The Future of Home Services Franchises

Technology, private equity and more small businesses entering the space will all impact the future of the home services industry, experts say.

Home services franchises are the backbone of local communities, providing essential services that keep homes safe and functional. From fixing plumbing issues to maintaining landscapes, they play a vital role in ensuring the comfort and well-being of homeowners.

Looking forward, the future of home service franchises is both exciting and promising. With a growing demand for high-quality services and the emergence of new business strategies, the industry is set for significant growth and transformation.

Let’s explore the trends and changes shaping the future of home service franchises, and how they're adapting to meet the evolving needs of consumers.

Reliable Services Leveraging Technology

Hagan Kappler, co-founder and CEO of Daisy, told 1851 Franchise that she is seeing an increase in demand from customers who want reliable services leveraging technology. With consumers becoming increasingly dependent on reliable home connectivity, there is a need for ongoing technological support in the home.

“The future of the franchise home services industry is prioritizing the goal of making consumers’ lives easier, simpler and more joyful through technology,” said Kappler. “Franchisees will benefit not only from the scale in a national brand, but they also need support in specific areas, including call centers, front line support and marketing. At Daisy, we are investing in data-driven support to not only help franchisees become more profitable, but also help them better serve their customers.”

With the amount of devices available today and half of the professional workforce now working from home, Kappler noted that consumers should have access to an expert to educate and guide them through the product ecosystem, as well as to ensure proper set-up from the start.

“Home technology services have now become one the most important service needs for consumers, and in the coming years, we’ll see this support become as common as existing home maintenance providers like pest control or landscaping,” she said.

More Private Equity Investment

In a LinkedIn post titled “Embracing the Future: Top Franchise Ownership Trends in 2024,” Blair Nicol, vice chairman and principal of FranNet, wrote that private equity investors are actively investing in franchises in the home services space, which is driving notable growth and innovation.

“This financial influx is propelling the industry to meet the increasing demand for quality services in the home service sector,” he wrote.

An Increase in Small Businesses

Nicol also noted that he is seeing smaller regional brands joining the franchise world, particularly in the home services space.

“Entrepreneurs are drawn to businesses they're passionate about, leading to the growth of franchises that resonate with local communities,” he wrote. “Small businesses within the franchise realm are scaling and expanding across the country.”

As the home services industry adapts to meet the ever-changing needs of consumers, one thing remains certain: the future of home service franchises is bright with promise, offering a blend of convenience, reliability and innovation that will shape our homes for years to come.
