Threshold Brands, the over 500-unit multi-brand home services franchisor, was recently recognized with the FranCXC Franchise Innovation Award for Best Service Introduction in celebration of their launch of the Plumbing Paramedics and Heating + Air Paramedics brands.

The Paramedics brands have always had an intense focus on innovation and disrupting the standard within the plumbing and HVAC industries. Originally established as a small family-owned brand, Plumbing Heating Paramedics, the business strove to bring small-town customer relations to big-city quality service.

“No pressure sales, always going above and beyond… That’s our niche,” explained Ryan Carpenter, president of the brands. “We are about local representation, which is what I love about franchising in the first place.”

Founded over a decade ago, Carpenter has devoted the time necessary to develop a strong infrastructure and proven business model, including a nearly 200-page operating manual, which is essentially the complete instructions necessary to succeed with both brands.

When Threshold Brands acquired Plumbing Heating Paramedics in 2021, the multi-brand franchisor made the strategic decision to create two offshoots, Plumbing Paramedics and Heating + Air Paramedics, to better serve franchisees.

“First of all, there are major synergies between operating these two businesses separately but together,” Carpenter explained. “I didn’t want to eliminate the person who is a licensed plumber but didn’t know anything about heating, and I didn’t want to force anyone to find a partner who knows about the side of the business they don’t.”

Through Carpenter’s expertise and Threshold Brands’ strong support, the two franchise models have been fully fleshed out as simple operational models that allow franchise owners to quickly scale with one or both of the brands.

Since beginning franchising in late 2021, Threshold Brands has on boarded four franchise owners — four with Heating + Air Paramedics and one with Plumbing Paramedics. Though each owner is starting with just one brand, each are interested in eventually opening up the complementary brand.

“The Paramedics brands were always intended to reach farther and impact more communities with person-first service, and it has been an honor to watch this come to fruition through the partnership of Plumbing Paramedics, Heating + Air Paramedics and Threshold Brands,” explained R. Scott Sutton, chief growth officer for Threshold Brands. “Threshold Brands remains committed to innovative growth as we strive to provide our franchisees and customers with nothing short of the best in the home services industry.”
