TruBlue Total House Care, the emerging home-maintenance franchise that provides maintenance services for seniors aging in place and busy families, is targeting the state of Texas as the next step in a major growth initiative that will allow the brand to triple its national presence by the end of 2023.

After bringing on new franchise partner in San Antonio, TruBlue is now turning its attention to Dallas and Houston , two cities where demographic data points to an increased need for senior services.

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, Dallas County’s senior population increased by nearly 40% between 2010 and 2019, and, as of July 1, 2019, seniors made up more than 11% of county residents. By comparison in 2010, seniors accounted for just under 9% of all county residents.

The U.S. Census Bureau’s Population Estimates Branch reports that, since 2011, there has been a rapid increase in the size of the 65-and-older population, which grew by over a third nationwide since 2010. No other age group saw such a fast increase.

Similarly, the 65-plus population in the Houston metro area is expected to double in size within the next 25 years, according to the Houston Department of Health and Human Services. And, as the senior population continues to grow nationwide, the demand for in-home services is at an all-time high, particularly following the COVID-19 pandemic. By 2030 almost 1 out of 5 Americans (some 72 million people) will be 65 years of age or older.

Across the U.S., as baby boomers age into seniors, they are increasingly redefining traditional notions of age. Not only are they healthier and living longer than previous generations, but they are also shunning retirement communities of the past and instead choosing to ride out their golden years at home.

“As a country, we are experiencing a change in how and where people want to grow old,” said Sean Fitzgerald, president of TruBlue. “Today’s seniors want to age comfortably in place, but no one is offering the type of ongoing home maintenance services they need in order to do so. TruBlue is virtually alone in this segment, which is why our concept has been picked up by entrepreneurs all over the country. We are confident that there is a tremendous need for our services, paired with ample opportunity for ongoing market growth.”

According to a May 2021 survey, nearly 90% of American adults aged 50 and older said they want to remain at home and age in place.

As the only franchise system focused on home maintenance and support services for seniors both inside and outside of the home, TruBlue is poised to capture a sizable share of the senior care industry, projected to reach $225 billion by 2024.

From handyman services to house cleaning, home maintenance to yard work, emergency repairs to Senior Home Safety Assessments, TruBlue franchisees have an opportunity to enter into the senior service industry in a new and meaningful way by offering seniors a path to aging at home safely and successfully.

“The senior population is increasingly in need of our trustworthy house care services, which is why TruBlue has been expanding rapidly over the past few years,” said Fitzgerald. “Now, we intend to keep that momentum going as we make major gains toward our goal of 200 units by 2023. Looking ahead, we are excited to continue partnering with qualified franchisees not only in Texas, but in every major market across the country.”

The initial investment to start a TruBlue Total House Care ranges from $65,000 to $91,000 and interested owners can visit www.trubluefranchise.com to learn more about franchise opportunities.
