What Email etiquette means for businesses

In the digital age, most business interaction takes place electronically. However, even in a fast-paced environment, it’s important to maintain certain etiquette rules.

“Email is often the first impression that others get of you,”  etiquette expert Jacqueline Whitmore told The Wall Street Journal.

Whitmore advises business leaders to be more formal when writing an email and include a greeting. Since business owners are usually busy, an email should be short, thoughtful and as direct as possible.

“I always keep my sentences very short,” Whitmore said. “People have hundreds of emails to answer in a day. The chances that somebody will respond increase when the email is shorter.”
