Winston-Salem Journal: DIY: Home staging can mean a quicker sold sign
Showhomes, the nation’s leading home staging franchise, shares insight with local market.
In today’s housing market, selling your home can be difficult if you don’t know what home buyers are looking for.
Contemporary buyers are taking to the internet before stepping foot in a home.
However, they can’t notice problem areas like chipped paint and aged trim online. That’s why their first experience setting foot in a home needs to be a good one.
“You only have one chance to wow a buyer,”Nancy Jones, owner of Showhomes Triad, NC, told the Winston-Salem Journal in an interview.
Statistics show that only 10% of home buyers are able to visualize what an updated home might look like when renovated and furnished. Prior to calling in a real estate agent, it’s important that a homeowner takes care of simple, inexpensive alterations.
But, home staging is what will speed up your sale.
“You will get a higher price by staging your home,” Frances Giaimo, a realtor with Berkshire Hathaway in Greensboro, told the Winston-Salem.
“Today, buyers want a turn-key situation. They don’t have the time or resources for fixer-uppers.”
